Robert Dransite, Music Professor At Nassau Community College, Carle Place Teacher, Dies

A man who worked as a music professor at Nassau Community College for more than 50 years and who was also a longtime teacher and bandleader in Carle Place Public Schools died on Monday, July 8 at age 86.

Robert Stanley Dransite taught in Carle Place school district for 36 years and was an adjunct professor at several Long Island colleges and universities, most notably NCC for 53 years until retiring.

Dransite was a professional musician whose most notable affiliations were with Bob Dransite Orchestra, Al Miller Band, and Peter Duchin Orchestra, according to his obituary.

He is survived by his wife Jane Reidy Dransite, children, Edward W., Geraldine H. and Brian R. Dransite, daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, John P. and Fiona J.; brother Gerald Dransite, sister-in-law, Joy; nephew and niece, Rob and Jerilynn. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Stanley and Helen Dransite, of Apollo, Pennsylvania.

A funeral was held Thursday, July 11 in Plainview.
